The friendly staff at the Ottawa Denture & Implant Centre can often repair your broken or chipped dentures. Our Denturist can very quickly assess whether you’re a candidate for repair or reline without creating a new set of dentures.
We offer a variety of solutions as unique as your mouth — partial, full, and implant supported dentures — all under one roof in Bells Corners.
Denture Repair
Repairs may be required if your dentures are accidentally damaged, such as:
- breakage or chipping
- when one or more teeth need to be added to an existing denture
- normal wear and tear
- when your pet tries to eat your dentures
Denture Reline
A reline consists of adding new base materials to the tissue side of the denture so it fits properly again. Relining only affects the fit of the denture and does not affect your appearance. Relines are required when tissue changes occur due to resorption (shrinkage), most often caused by:
- weight loss
- tooth loss
- bone loss
- aging
- disease or illness
Denture Rebase
Rebasing is usually done when the denture teeth have not worn out in comparison to the denture base material. It is a process of retrofitting dentures by replacing the entire acrylic denture base with new acrylic, which provides a stable denture without replacing the denture teeth.
In most cases, the Denturist can restore an existing broken or cracked denture to its original state and most repairs can be done in a couple of hours. Your Denturist can best explain how to prevent denture breakage from occurring.
Denture Maintenance
Over time, your mouth goes through considerable changes. Tissue shrinkage and loss of underlying bone (resorption) will occur in any area your dentures contact. Since your dentures do not change, they may no longer fit like they once did. A regular check-up with your Denturist is the most effective way for you and your dentures to get proper care and attention.
An annual oral exam may prevent or help detect the existence of oral cancer or other abnormal conditions.
